The schools closed early today because of the weather. What’s with that??? They announced it last night on the news. I lived in Colorado for ten years and the schools never planned a closing for upcoming weather. If you got up in the morning and there was two feet of snow on the ground, you watched the TV to see if your school was closed. We did some last minute errands today and the roads were a tad wet and then damp later on. There is a freezing rain but it has not stuck until now at about 4:30 pm. The bread shelves at Wal-Mart were bare. I didn’t look at any other shelves. Everyone is out stocking up for inclement weather. Weird.
Thought I’d share some thoughts with y’all about the area here in North Carolina. It is very green except for the bare trees. The dirt is a red clay. Very mucky muck. There are many potters in the vicinity. We have not gotten to see any so far. I did go out one day to find some I located on the internet and they were no longer in business. I got the down-low from Dave’s stepmom as to where to go, though. I had headed north and there are more farther south. Dave tells me that NC was known as the state having the most miles of roads in the nation. I don’t know if that is still true but the Garmin freaks out here every now and then and takes us on a wild goose chase!
Since Dave has pneumonia, we have not been able to do much. Poor guy. He has sore ribs from coughing and I am tired of being in the HOT RV! I’m sure he is tired of being unable to go out also. He had wanted to do some more hunting with his dad. So far, only one short three-day trip which resulted in a doe. We have had some tenderloin already. It was delicious!
Looking out the window now, ice is coming down and it is beginning to look like a winter wonderland! Beautiful! It will be gone by Sunday, though.
The first Sunday we were here, we went to the local Assembly of God church. It was wonderful. I told the Pastor’s wife I felt like I had been to “charch”! He spoke about bringing the kingdom of God to earth, here and now. It goes right along with the book I’ve been reading, “Dreaming With God” by Bill Johnson, a SUPER good book! It is amazing (to my pea brain) how God’s plan is evident all around us, wherever we may go! Just look for it!
We attended “Bethlehem Live” put on by the AG church. It was an outdoor play, portraying the life of Jesus. We walked around the “city” of Jerusalem, guided by various characters in Jesus’ life. It was good but VERY cold. We had our “warmies” on so we were toasty.
We do want to go to the Biltmore House in Asheville. If you get a chance, look it up online. We are told it is beautiful at Christmas so I’m hoping Dave will feel up to it before the end of the season. That’s pretty much next week unless we want to go Jan 1 or 2. Pray that he recovers quickly!
Until next time, Go with God!
~Amy
