We are still in Mountain Home at the AFB. We are still waiting for parts. After finding out that the awning would not ship until this past Thursday, we opted to wait and reorder it when we land in NC where we will be for the holidays. Little did we know that the part that we were told shipped over two weeks ago had not really shipped. Only when the RV place called to find out where the parts were, were we told that they had JUST boxed it up. That probably means that, “Oops! We forgot and we’ll get right on it!” So, hopefully, our parts will arrive late this week. Who knew there was so much to do in the middle of nowhere in Idaho???! Actually, we are digging to find things to do. I have done loads of laundry, taken walks on the base here, been to the Commissary and BX several times. watched tons of TV, baked tons of bread, generally gotten FAT, driven to every state and national park within one day’s driving distance, been to Boise several times, visited with friends there, celebrated Dave’s niece’s son’s one year birthday party, been to the mall, checked out the new Verizon Droid, had massages at the mall, seen “A Christmas Carol” in 3D at the Boise IMAX theater (Y’all should see it. It is fabulous but might scare the younger kids.), spent 3 hours in Cabela’s and about 45 minutes in TJ MAXX (loved it!) and now Dave is cleaning out the truck. Did I mention that we washed said truck here at the base and then it rained the day after?! So, yeah, we are keepin’ BUSY!
As to the home front, Dave’s son Chris is busily planning his September wedding and my kids are all doing well. Cecelia is opening a dance studio in Morgan Hill with a friend, Nathaniel is settling well into married life with his beautiful bride Anna and Evelyn is busily practicing for her performances in “The Velveteen Rabbit”. Here’s the info if you can make it. She would REALLY appreciate it! She is also starting out at a new dance studio in SLO and is so much happier there. The owner is a Christian of great integrity so that is a plus!

I (Amy) would appreciate your prayers regarding my dad. He is making some life-changing decisions and God’s guidance and clarity are needed at this time. Thank all of you prayer warriors! And your prayers are also coveted for Dave’s Chris and Jennifer. For Chris as he begins this new phase of his life and for Jennifer that she would be open to the Holy Spirit and that God would put someone in her path who can reach out to her and be a positive influence in her life. We know that God holds each of our children in the palm of His hand and that the seeds that we have planted early in their lives do not return void. AMEN!
We have enjoyed some beautiful days here in Idaho. They have been clear and crisp, for the most part. We love the open sky and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We seem to have acclimated well. The cold is not as cold as when we arrived but Dave is always cold and I am always hot, it seems. (I’m just a hot chick, I guess!) Okay, enough of that subject. By the way, most of you probably have not experienced military life. While here on the base and at the others we have stayed at, we hear reveille daily at 0600, the National Anthem at 1700 and taps at 2200. At Beale AFB we also heard the platoons and the marching songs early in the mornings. This is a new experience for me. I was watching out the window here one evening at 5 p.m. when the National Anthem was playing and the cars were all stopping on the side of the road. Even Dave said that he had not seen that for a long time. Something new every day! Fun! Love it!
As the holidays fast approach, we pray that each of you remembers the gifts that God has given you and that you not get so wrapped up in holiday preparations that you don’t take time to listen to God and reach out to those who need His touch in their lives.
